Commercial Solar PV References

Novalux have installed a variety of different renewable projects including Energy from Waste heat and power systems, commercial Solar PV, biomass boilers, Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) and IED compliant biomass boilers.

To date, Novalux have installed over 110 projects for multinational companies and small businesses alike. The technology that Novalux installs benefit our customers’ businesses and finances, whilst helping the environment.

The example projects below demonstrates headline figures based on differing project requirements. If you’d like to get more accurate financial projections based on your site, submit the form below.

Example Project

A 263.12kW Roof Mount Solar PV Installation

Project Scope

A waste management company have been depending on fuel to power their machinery but due to the price rises in diesel their profits are being greatly reduced.

To increase profits and protect against future price rises the company chose to install a commercial solar PV system on the roof of their building to generate electricity. By doing this they will be able to switch over to electric machinery to manage the waste on site.

Project Financials

Novalux sent over a design for the Solar PV system which covers 70% of the available roof space. Despite the large amount of windows on the roof, the panels will still generate 263kWp of electricity to be used on site.

Additional electricity will be sold back to the grid under a PPA to generate additional income.

Annual electricity savings: £30,842
Annual PPA income: £15,684
Payback: 4.1 years
IRR: 24%

Project

A 2.5MW Ground and Roof Mount Solar PV System

Project Scope

A sawmill with huge electricity costs due to powering their machinery on site want to protect their operation against rising costs. They have a large amount of commercial roof space and a field next to the site.

Novalux suggested installing panels on both spaces so that the electricity produced can contribute towards powering their machinery.

Project Financials

Tier 1 panels were installed as the business wanted to make sure that the investment was providing as much power as possible for commercial purposes.

Annual electricity savings: £353,335
Annual PPA income: £0
Net benefit over 25 years: £12,614,589
Payback: 4.6 years
IRR: 23.8%

Example Project

A 669kWp Roof Mount Solar PV Installation

Project Scope

A Marina with an automatic boat stack for storage needs to reduce the cost of their electricity bills. In addition to this they anticipate that in the future, more of their clients will need electric car charging and possibly even electric boat charging, making electricity the largest expenditure at the Marina.

To meet this need and draw more customers to their business, the owners chose to invest in Solar PV.

Project Financials

Novalux recommended installing Tier 1 panels which have slightly higher upfront cost but generate a greater amount of electricity throughout the year. This is especially important in the winter months when less light is available for conversion. Due to the ability to export energy which isn’t required from what is produced on site by the panels the Marina will benefit further.

Annual electricity savings: £44,000
Annual PPA income: £25,026
Net benefit over 25 years: £2,578,502
Payback: 6.3 years
IRR: 14.2%

Project Scope

Manufacturing food and drink uses a large amount of electricity throughout each process. For businesses this can have a huge impact on profits, especially since incurring multiple increases in the cost of electricity.

A food and drink manufacturing company decided to opt out of this cycle after having electricity bills which had tripled in price. Novalux recommended that they install a commercial solar PV system on roof space which they had available.

Project Financials

After enquiring, Novalux Energy sent over a design of the roof with approximate output and number of panels to give an indication on price. The food and drink company wanted to proceed with tier 1 panels which would produce the most electricity for the commercial space.

Any electricity which isn’t used can be sold to the grid through a Power Purchase Agreement to generate additional income for the business.

Annual electricity savings: £207,856
Annual PPA income: £13,099
Net benefit over 25 years: £8,879,159
Payback: 4 years
IRR: 28%

Project

A 210kWp Ground Mount Solar PV System

Project Scope

A farmer owns a field next to their site. As they have large requirements for electricity, they want to cut down on expenditure. Novalux recommend that they switch to Solar PV to generate long term renewable energy.

The panels allow the site farmer to produce power from the sun to use on site, or export excess power to the grid under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), creating a new income stream. Although the Feed in Tariff (FIT) is no longer available the cost of panels have greatly reduced, meaning solar can provide a great long term investment for the business whilst helping to contribute to a clean environment.

Project Financials

Consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the impact of production and consumption of fossil fuels on the environment.

Novalux helps businesses to make reducing their carbon footprint easy. All of the technologies we install make large savings on energy costs whilst helping companies to diversify income whilst achieving carbon neutrality.

Annual electricity savings: £19,286
Annual PPA income: £2,296
Net benefit over 25 years: £835,550
Payback: 5.2 years
IRR: 21.5%

Project Scope

A dairy farmer wanted to make additional income. As the farm had a large barn with available roof space, Novalux recommend that they switch to Solar PV to generate long term renewable energy.

The panels allow the farmer to produce power from the sun to use on site, or export excess power to the grid under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), creating a new income stream.
